Abigail Roach Mobile: 0416652225 Email: abigailroachuk@btinternet.com Personal statement I am from the UK and currently in Australia on a 417 Working Holiday Visa. I am in search of any sort of work that would enable me to broaden my abilities and skills. I am a very hardworking, personable and determined individual that is always willing to try new things and do it to the best of my ability. Many of my previous jobs have been hospitality based; which has allowed me to broaden my skillset and to perfect my customer service skills. I believe I am a very personable individual who takes instruction well and gets on with people at all levels from management, colleagues and especially customers. I have always worked from a very young age and am aware of the importance of a good work ethic along with being reliable and trustworthy for an employer. Employment history Carter and Spencer - Sweet Potato packing shed(Australia) As part of my 88 days regional farm work, to enable my second year visa, I worked in this packing shed. My roles consisted of working on a conveyor belt for 12 hour days so I’m used to working consistently for these periods of time. I sorted all the potatoes into the designated boxes and then packed them after in order to be sent off to the buyers. Working well with a team was very important for this role as if one person was slacking the whole system would fail, so this has made working with a lot of people a key skill of mine. AF and A Bellato – Painting and decorating construction work (Australia) Here is another job that counted towards my 88 days farm work. I have worked here for the past 6 months and continuing to due to Covid 19. The work consists of preparing and painting many different locations from houses, hotels to storage sheds and many more. I have learnt many skills while doing this job from plastering skills, learning the ins and outs of all the tools needed to convert these spaces. I have gained much patience and an eye for detail during this job due to the finish result needed from my work keeping the customers happy. Barista, Costa Coffee (Bristol Airport, UK) (September 2017- January 2019) I was initially working part time, whilst finishing my final exams, and more lately full time once I left school in July 2018. I initially helped with general duties, cleaning and customer support and then trained as a Barista preparing, and serving coffee and assisting with the training of new employees. I was very reliable working all shifts and won several local employee awards. Browns Restaurant (Bristol,UK) (March 2015- August 2017) Whilst also being one of the most prestigious restaurants in the city, this job allowed me to heighten my waitressing skills; combining both barista work alongside serving high profile customers in a high paced, yet calm manner. It allowed me to gain vital communication skills in the sense of being approachable for customers, and, also building although short, relationships with them. Cottage Loaf Bakery (Congresbury, UK) (September 2014- September 2015) I worked as a Saturday assistant whilst at school, serving customers, taking payments and handling cash, preparing meals and processing orders over the telephone. General cleaning duties. The Plough Inn (Congresbury, UK) (February 2014- September 2014) This was a part-time evening and weekend job working as a waitress, serving food, customer support, clearing and cleaning tables and the property generally. Education Churchill Academy and Sixth Form – A Levels (September 2016- 2018) • History • Physical Education • Psychology Churchill Academy and Sixth Form – GCSE’s (September 2011- 2016) • 11 GCSE’s grade A*-C including B’s in Maths and English Hobbies and Interests: I am someone who is very passionate about sport, particularly athletics. From a young age I represented my County (North Somerset) in the 100m and 200m category, winning many races at this level, alongside other field events. Away from sport, I have a deep love for animals, which has allowed me to become more compassionate and empathetic, two things which in an ever-changing world become very valuable. I have now lived away from home for over a year due to my love of travel, my independence has grown massively and I am willing to try anything new and want to do it to my best abilities. From travelling it has meant my confidence has developed so meeting new people is no issue. Full UK driving License
